Spending Your Thanksgiving on the Beach

A lot of people love to spend their Thanksgiving vacation at home, with a giant turkey, lots of sweet potatoes and food, and a general engorging day of pure gluttony. However, not everyone is up for a lazy day of gaining weight, and not everyone would want to spend thousands of dollars on a family Thanksgiving dinner that might go to waste if it isn’t finished. People would choose to hike, go out into the wilderness for some camping, and even go to the beach! Such a Florida vacation can turn Thanksgiving on its head and make it all the more memorable, so if you are planning a Thanksgiving vacation away from it all – then you might want to head for the waves and start planning out your Thanksgiving on the beach.Granted, Thanksgiving comes around autumn, when the leaves are changing, and when the sun usually starts going to sleep early. However, you can never be sure if you are safe from the sun’s rays, so if you are planning a Thanksgiving on the beach, bring along some suntan lotion and a big umbrella. Don’t forget your towels – you might emerge shivering from the sea, so you will need to keep yourself warm for a good, long time as you get out of the water and eat a few meals.Speaking of meals, Thanksgiving need not be about turkey, but if you are all about poultry on your special vacation day, then by all means, bring some! You don’t have to bring the whole bird, and neither do you have to do some roasting or baking on the beach, but you can bring along strips of turkey for sandwiches or salad. This way, you don’t have to worry about having to pack up large amounts of sweet potatoes or soups to go with your turkey: you can simply let everyone make their own sandwich by bringing along some bread, vegetables, and dressing. Talk about a healthy Thanksgiving! If you still want to have a big meal, then you may want to rent out a beach cottage with an oven. You can start swimming early in the day, and have a light breakfast in order to keep you going. When lunch comes along, you can get people to help you with preparing the meal. You can then end up with a late lunch or early dinner of turkey, with vegetables, bread, soup, and other food for your Thanksgiving meal. This way, you do not have to worry about staying out of the tradition, and you can still have fun on the beach. However, this will entail a lot of packing on your part, so be sure to keep the turkey in the fridge and get it out only before you go to the beach. If the beach is a long way away, then you might want to cook the turkey beforehand, then pack it up in foil. You can then heat it up when you reach your beach house. However, the turkey might not taste too good by this time, so you may want to carve it and store it up carved, so that you can have the turkey in slices when meal time comes along. There are many different options available to you if you wish to have a Thanksgiving vacation on the beach. In any case, all you need to do is to pack up well, so that you can still end up having fun no matter what the day appears to be.
