One Close Call
My husband works with an immigrant from Mexico. He is a great worker and person. He maintains his green card regularly and is considering becoming naturalized. There was a time when we thought this would never happen. His friend was once accused of being in the United States illegally. It happened very quickly and he was held for several days. Their boss did an immigration lawyer lookup and even paid for the fees. A talented immigration attorney took the case and my husband’s friend was released quickly. It ended up being a case of mistaken identity but it almost ruined his faith in the US government. We helped to convince him, otherwise, and, to this day, he is a happy, healthy, and contributing member of society.
