Prelude To An Anxiety Attack
If a person reaches a chronic anxiety state it means that they are more or less permanently in a state of nervous anticipation and mentally and physically geared to the “flight or fight” reaction. The build up of this energy can never be released in a normal way, as there is no appropriate action of which he or she is consciously aware - hence the likelihood of an anxiety attack. There is a intense feeling of fear, anxiety and dread which can change in intensity from day to day but is constantly present, either occupying the mind in the fullest sense or lying dormant in the background waiting to take over the conscious faculties. The sufferer feels that there is something hanging over his head but does not know when the impending disaster will happen. This leads ultimately to the build up of tensions to the point at which they erupt into yet another anxiety attack.
