HISTORY of Neglect

One of the most difficult concepts to grasp is the concept that puppies raised in puppy mills are treated no better than common farm animals.  The history of puppy mills began shortly after the Second World War.  At the time, rural farmers were having difficulties with their crops.  Due to the economic hardships that preceded the Second World War, namely the Dust Bowl, many farmers had a difficult time recovering from their lose.  In an effort to  increase the profitability of their land, they turned to raising puppies.  The farmers already possessed the necessary equipment for raising large numbers of animals; making the transition an easy one.
