The first time my family had a telephone installed, we were also given a thin blue book.  The little volume had a list of all five hundred or so people in our area who also had phones.  I was thrilled to see our family name and number listed.  As the years went by the little books got huge, the phones got smaller, and finally Phone book directory information could be found online, without ever looking at a printed page. Some things never change, however.  Last week, as I was surfing the Net, I couldn’t resist the urge to look up my own name and found I still got a kick out of seeing my information listed.
