I heard that companies like Avis are raising their car rental charges by as much as $3 per day for cars collected at airports – which must be their biggest slice of business, I expect.

Good job I already booked my rental car for next month’s winter vacation trip – using budget rental coupons of course, so it was even cheaper. Booking ahead has to be the way as the price for rental seems to be fixed at the booking date, not when the car is picked up on the arranged date. If other car rental companies increase their charges, we should be OK on our vacation budget, which is already pretty tight.
